Spread the love

This morning, the world grew quieter. A light that had shone so brightly in our lives has gone out. With great sorrow but deep gratitude, we remember  Paulette Verhoven, a beloved mother, friend, and radiant spirit who passed away peacefully, surrounded by love. Her final days were filled with warmth, laughter, and the presence of those who cherished her most.

Though her illness came quickly and unexpectedly, Paulette met it with remarkable grace. Her positivity never wavered, even when her body grew tired. She didn’t want tears—she wanted stories, smiles, and laughter in her home. And that’s exactly what she received. In her final month, her home became a gathering place of joyful memory-making. She was comforted by those she held close—sharing meals, games, and quiet moments that will now live on as treasured memories.

For those who couldn’t be by her side, especially from afar, she felt your love. Her family spent meaningful time with her during those final weeks, creating one last chapter together—filled with all the love that defined her life. Even as she neared the end, she remained deeply present and openhearted.

The family extends deep thanks to Aspirus Hospice and The Hospice House, who were not just caregivers but companions. Tracey, Tim, and Emma became a part of the extended family, offering presence, comfort, and tireless support during the most difficult moments. Their compassion helped ensure that Paulette’s final journey was as peaceful and dignified as she deserved.

Paulette’s life was one of generosity and resilience. She made people feel seen, valued, and uplifted. She found joy in the simple things: a shared story, a loving hug, the sound of laughter filling a room. Her kindness touched everyone who crossed her path, and her strength was quiet but unwavering. She made the world better just by being in it—and we are all better for having known her.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, August 1st, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at John J. Buettgen Funeral Home, 948 Grand Ave, Schofield, Wisconsin. The visitation will be followed by a brief service and graveside prayer at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Kronenwetter, where she will be laid to rest.

As we gather to remember and honor Paulette, we hold close the values she lived by—love without condition, joy in the everyday, and faith in the goodness of people. Let us remember her not with sorrow alone but with the same laughter she asked of us in her final days. Let us tell her stories, keep her memory alive in the little things, and live with the same love she gave so freely.

Paulette Verhoven may have left this world, but she will never leave our hearts. Her legacy is one of light, and it will continue to shine through her family, friends, and all who were lucky enough to share in her journey.

Rest peacefully, Paulette. We love you, always.
